Enrolling at Duke University at the age of eighteen marked a pivotal moment in CARA's journey. Despite temporarily stepping away from the spotlight to pursue higher education, her love for the arts continued to burn brightly. In the rich tapestry of North Carolina, she immersed herself in musical experiences, from lending her voice to the campus gospel choir and Jazz Ensemble to interning with renowned hip-hop producer and scholar, 9th Wonder, at his indie label, Jamla Records. It was during these formative years that CARA honed her craft, exploring new genres and refining her creative skills. Though her path diverged from the stage, her artistic journey remained steadfast, laying the groundwork for the next chapter in her musical odyssey.

“During my time at Jamla Records, I quickly found myself immersed in a higher level of music production, taking on roles in A&R, A&R Administration, and creative direction. It was an incredible journey of discovery, where I had the privilege of nurturing emerging talent and contributing to the label's rich history of artist development. Working closely with artists, I learned the ins and outs of the industry, while also staying true to my passion for authenticity and excellence. Collaborating on projects like music videos, album artwork, and promotional campaigns allowed me to explore my creative vision and bring artists' stories to life in unique ways. It was a dynamic and fulfilling experience that enriched my own artistic sensibilities and solidified my reputation as a reliable collaborator.
